Believe it or not, Scotland does have some warm, sunny days over summer, making August the perfect time to explore Edinburgh’s great outdoors.
Walk up Calton Hill, sunbathe in Princes Street Gardens or enjoy an ice cream on Portobello Beach. And don’t forget to bring a picnic with you - you can find our top ten favourite picnic spots here.
One of our favourite things about Edinburgh is the merging of historical and contemporary culture. In a two-minute walk, you can go from admiring the architecture on the cobbled streets of the Royal Mile to sipping drinks on an outdoor terrace in the New Town.
